Yangshuo info

-I would like to avoid staying overnight in Guilin and would rather prefer to get directly from Yangshuo to Guilin airport on the day of my flight. Is it doable by public transport? How long would it take?

-What potable water is available in Yangshuo and other places? Is tap water ok for drinking in China? If I boil it?

-What kind of paths are there in the rice terraces? Is it very wet, muddy? What kind of shoes you need?

-What is the most interesting cave that you reccomend visiting around Yangshuo? I don%26#39;t mind christmas illumination, but would like to move at my own pace, without any organized tours and guides and stay inside the cave as long as I wish to.

Thank you for any suggestions

You can get a shuttle bus to Guilin city from the airport.

It takes around 20 minutes to get to the the bus station or train station. It%26#39;s probably more convenient to go to the train station where you can get a local bus to Yangshuo. This bus will take around an hour and twenty minutes.

You shouldn%26#39;t drink the tap water. You can buy bottled water at local shops.

You should also wear hiking shoes for Longheng. It can be muddy if it rains.

I think that Silver cave is the best.

Hope this helps,

Mulan

You can go via public transport, but why not just get your hotel in Yangshuo to send a car to pick you up from the airport. Cheaper than a taxi.

Shutttle or taxi from yangshuo to guilin is the best. As always boil the water, same everywhere however in shanghai it tastes very bad - too many chemicals for sure. however I found the tap water in yangshuo good tasting and no problem. very sweet. not recommended if you%26#39;ve not travelled rurally and don%26#39;t have pills eg flagyl, cipro and amox with you.

you don%26#39;t need to travel with a tour but I suggest you hang at the back of a tour so you can hear what they tell you. it is interesting. go to water cave, shower under waterfall, swim in cave (cold) and have mud bath!also further from yangshuo do the white water river ride.

There is a cave in the centre of guilin, only open a couple of hours on an infrequent basis I believe, not every day, under the mount in a religious complex.. go there its interesting but you must tour it as entry is restricted.
