Hidden Gems of Hong Kong

Will be in HK in April for a week. I%26#39;ve done most of the %26#39;Big%26#39; sites. How about a few ideas for smaller, less noticed gems that our HK SAR folks have seen?

THANKS!

Hidden Gems of Hong Kong

Signal Hill

Nan Lian Garden

Kowloon Walled City Park

But tell us what you have done so that we don%26#39;t repeat places.

Hidden Gems of Hong Kong

THANKS TA folks!

Have seen Peak, Stanley, Trams, Peng Chau, Cheung Chau, Lamma, Lantau, Big Buddah, Po Lin Monastery, Sha Tin,Ladies Market, Temple Street Night Market, Macau, and others. Liked them all!

Basically interested in smaller, hidden gems perhaps the TA crowd has %26#39;stumbled%26#39; on.

Thanks again!

Did you see the 10 000 Buddhas in Shatin? Also the Museum of Coastal Defence in Sau Kei Wan.

Did you go to Macau before?

Have been to Macau. Great museum on the hill. Would not go back to Macau though -- once for me was fine.

Afew gems on these sites:

Hikes: Dragon%26#39;s Back; Jardine%26#39;s Lookout

Island: Po Toi

Thanks, drumbrake.

Have not seen the 10,000 Buddahs in Sha Tin. Hopefully this time.

I am now starting to think that Kowloon City is well worth a couple of hours. It seems that Western visitors enjoy seeing the older and more traditional shops. There are plenty of them there.

Off the beaten path at Route Twisk of Tsuen Wan at the base of Tai Mo Shan is Chuen Lung Village. There are some old style Chinese dim sum restaurants as well as a small watercress farm with hiking trails.

Thanks again to all the TA folks,

I appreciate all your comments and insight!

If you are there on April 18, I recommend a visit to the Hin Hau Temple in Joss House Bay near Clearwater Bay as the locals will be celebrating the Tin Hau Festival. you can get there by ferry from North Point.

Also the Chi Lin Nunnery near Wong Tai Sin is worth a visit.
