book hotel before i go or wait until i get there?

Hello,

I will be flying into HK on may 21st morning, and leave stright to Macau for two nights and then back to HK until the 1st june.

I have been reading around and some people say its best not to book a hotel before you land in Hong Kong but to wait and then book once you arrive at the airport.

Any advice? both for Marcu and HK.

Thanks

Booking ahead gives me peace of mind. I know most hotels also have higher walk-in rates.

I stone cold agree with greenarcher.

Booking ahead --I know where I%26#39;m staying, and have figured out how to get there.

I have had GREAT luck with www.asiatravel.com . Lots of online options -- usually a good deal, and they%26#39;ve got local phone support there in HK.

Definitely book ahead. You can compare hotels, get better rates, and have the right expectations of what you are paying for.

It%26#39;s cheaper. Book ahead. You also get a guarenteed room, and more choice.

Guten Tag, well there are pros and cons on this.

However, for travelers who wish to leave their accommodation flexible until they arrive,my advice is to book a hotel room in advance at least for the first night of stay.

Where you have mentioned that you arrived into HK on May 21(Thursday) and staying two nights in Macau;which shall be

May 21 and May 22- in Macau: well, I can say that for May 22,which befalls a Friday, hotel room rates in Macau will double(or almost triple).

For Macau-I suggest you book ahead for a room for the two nights, then for HK,at least one night, when you return from Macau,i.e May 23.

Do also take note that there shall be a long weekend on May 28,which is a gazetted public holiday(Tuen Ng-Dragon Boat festival),so rooms and choice of selection could be limited.

In Macau, since there is still time, you may wish to look at Pousada de Mong Ha,which is located in a quieter area of Macau Peninsula,of which weekdays room rate is only MOP400.00nett.This place being the institute of tourism is a government entity so no service charge is imposed. Check also their Friends of IFT free membership which gives further 20% discount on room rates.
