From where is it easier to visit Qiao Family Courtyard House? Is there any bus that goes there from Pingyao? How far is it? Thank you

This information was from my online research in September/October 2008. In the end we went to Wang instead of Qiao, so I had no chance to verify the information. Hope it helps anyway.

There%26#39;re apparently buses from Pingyao to Qiao Family for 10 RMB/pax.

A vehicle from Qixian train station (祁县火车站) to Qiao Family would cost around 25 RMB. Not sure if it%26#39;s for one-way or round-trip, sorry.

Thank you Ellyse. I will be arriving at Taiyuan, proceed then to Datong, then Wutai Shan and finally Pingyao from where I hopefully catch a train to Xian.. I have never heard of Qixian though. What is there? Is it worth a visit? What is the best way of inserting it into my itinerary?

Qixian is the closest train station to the Qiao Family Courtyard House, which%26#39;s where you want to go...!

Hello ,I am not sure you have been in Pingyao or not.

if is 40km far away from Pingyao.you can take the bus to there .Qiao family is on the side of the road.you can take the bus which leads to Taiyuan.the price is 15RMB,every 20minutes each bus.there is another bus .from Pingyao to Qiao Family directly.the price is almost 15yuan.one hours on the way.you will spend the one and half an hour in there.

after Qiao famiy,you can take the bus back to Pingyao .

Another way.hire the taxi to there ,About 250yuan for the round trip for the 4seats taxi.

if you think that price is a little higher,just suggest you to hire the Escort tour guide to take you to get bus to there and then back.

can you tell me how you will arrive in Taiyuan .by trian or plane.and also from where.if you from Beijing,please take the train to Datong.then the hanging temple.then back to Datong ,to take the bus to Wutain MT.after that take the bus from Wutai Mt to Taiyuan.then to Pingyao by bus.

So if I get it right the bus going from Pingyao to Taiyuan will stop me at Qixian where I have to take another bus going to the Qiao family.

Then there is another direct bus from Pingyao to Quao family. From where in Pingyao does it leave?

As to my itinerary I am planning to do like this:

day 1 Fly Hangzhou-Taiyuan and transfer to Datong by fast Iveco bus

day 2 Visit Cloud Ridge Caves

day 3 Visit Hanging Monastery and Wooden Pagoda

day 4 Transfer from Datong to Wutai Shan (by bus?)

day 5 Wutai Shan

day 6 Wutai Shan

day 7 Wutai Shan

day 8 Transfer from Wutai Shan to Pingyao (by bus?)

day 9 Pingyao

day 10 Pingyao

day 11 Transfer by train or by bus from Pingyao to Xian.

PS I will be moving only by public transport, no taxis or tours

Do you have any info on buses (preferably fast buses via Yuncheng) from Pingyao to Xian? Do they run regularly and how long do they take? Do you think it will it be possible to get tickets a couple of days in advance around the 20th of September?

About the bus to Taiyuan,this bus will pass the Qiao Family.so you can drop off there.you do not need to change the bus in Qixian.

About the bus to Qiao family ,it leaves in Pingyao bus station which is located outside of the North gate.walk out the North gate .first traffic light ,turn right.walk about 5 minutes.you will not miss the bus station.

Day 1.after you arrive ,you can take the airport bus to The Wuyi Square.then walk to the bus station which is located in the Yingze street.take the bus to Datong.

Day 2.Take the city bus to see the Yung gang caves.the bus nubmer is (3--2)

Day 3.take the bus to Hanging temple and Yinxian pagoda bus.pleas ask your hotel staff in Datong .which station you can take the bus and how many hours do you need.

Day 4.Take the bus from Datong to Wutai Mt.(Ask the hotel staff in Datong.because you need the exact departuring time )

Day 5 ,6.7. Wutai Mt

Day 8.To Pingyao,first take the bus from Wutain Mt to Taiyuan,no bus directly to Pingyao.when you arrive in Taiyuan bus station(eastern bus station.) then you need to take the city taxi to Jian nan bus station(太原建南汽车站 for taxi driver.about 15Yuan)

Then from Jian Nan bus station to Pingyao.2hours on the way.if you book the hotel in Pingyao and tell them when you will arrive ,they will pick you from the bus station in Pingyao.

Day 9.some hotel can book the sleeper ticket from Taiyuan to Xi’an .because of there is not enough sleeper ticket from Pingyao .I think you will pay the extra fee (30 or 40yuan.)

Just one more thing to ask… You say the sleeper ticket will be from Taiyuan to Xian, but I will take that train from Pingyao or I need to go to Taiyuan?

I will be in Taiyuan train station on the 10th of September.. Will it be possible to buy Taiyuan –Xian ticket for the 20th of September (10 days in advance)? And depart from Pingyao?

When you arrive in Taiyuan Train station ,If you got the ticket by yourself.you need back to taiyuan taket the train .

if you book the ticket by the hotel in Pingyao.You do not need back to Taiyuan train station.you will take the train in Pingyao by the fax ticket to get the train.because of the hotel will find someone to help you check in the ticket in Taiyuan.this is the reason why you pay the extra charge for the hotel.
