I am travelling to Guangzhou to shop, where is the best place to go to buy similar to what is available in Shenzhen? What is the closest hotel?

When you say similar to Shenzhen what exactly are you meaning? There are a couple of well-known pedestrian shopping malls that have everything along them and close by. I recommend Holiday Inn Shifu Guangzhou as a great place to stay. Others may be able to provide extra information.

Shopping in Guangzhou

Shenzhen has more wholesale markets for electronic stuff. For clothes, jewelery, toys, autoparts... Guangzhou is a better place. It depends on what exactly are you looking for. There are hotels in every wholesale market and shopping area.

Go to the Baiyun World Leather Trade Center. I purchased well named shoes tshirts silver jewellery. It is set up much like LoWu markets. The building is sectioned off in ABCD areas per floor. If taking a male person with you and they get bored there is an area with a tv all though it be in Chinese. There are also 3 or 4 other buildings across the road selling the same things. I found prices very reasonable.

Agree that leather world is a great stop, but please not that ALL branded products there are FAKE. Dont%26#39; be fooled.
