Han Yangling Undergrand Museum No.1 In The World





Located at Zhangjiewan Village, in eastern Xianyang City, 22 kilometers from both Xianyang airport and Xi’an, the mausoleum is the join tomb of Liu Qi, the fourth Emperor of the West Han Dynasty (206B.C.-220A.D.) together with his Empress, Wang, the mother of famous Hanwudi. It is said that it took 28 years to complete the mausoleum, beginning in 153 B.C. and lasting the Emperor’s life-long until the Empress died.





Covering an area of more than 10 square kilometers-nearly six kilometers from east to west, and up to three kilometers from north to south, the tomb is symmetrically constructed as tradition with the sacred road from east to west. Standing at the western end of sacred road, the Mausoleum is about 32 meters high with circumferences of 670 meters and 238 meters at the bottom and top respectively. The Empress’s tomb is on the sideward. In ancient it was the custom that an Empress, though she held much power, still be buried depart from her husband.





We have unearthed up to 60,000 burial objects. Different from the august Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses, it includes a large number of docile goat, drooping-tail demi-wolf, lovely pig……,which is the largest terracotta animal bevy so far. Simultaneity, numerous terracotta cavalry, terracotta doughboy, all kinds of weapons life-appliances, even the terracotta woman-cavalier are excavated. The Museum of Yanling has been opened to the visitors echo with the Terracota Warriors and Horses Museum.
