places to eat

Can anyone recommend places to eat in Nathan Street breakfast and dinners which are good value for money.

nathan road is extremely long, you have to specify which hotel / district you are staying at.

Around the Nathan Hotel and the Holiday inn the golden mile, are these two hotels close to each other

Nathan Hotel is in Jordan, while Holiday Inn is in Tsim Sha Tsui. It%26#39;s a 2 minute subway ride between the two, or a 20 minute walk.

There are plenty of dining options in Tsim Sha Tsui- besides local Cantonese, there is Italian, Indian, Turkish, Spanish, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malaysian, Janpanese, fine dining in 5 star hotels, and other Chinese.

Head to streets such as Knutsford Terrace and Hau Fook Street for a selection of places.

Hong Kong is very compact so you don%26#39;t need to limit your food choices to Tsim Sha Tsui area only. Read the sticky dining thread started by Katetam to get an idea.

For breakfast places, see if there is a Delifrance nearby. First Cup at Prat Avenue and Chatham Road is also a nice place. McDonald%26#39;s are everywhere. If you are willing to try local fast food breakfast, check out Cafe de Coral, Fairwood, or MX. Finally, any local Hong Kong style cafe is worth an experience.

Thanks for the advise. I am going with my sister and our granddaughters and she is worried we will all get sick from eating food outside the hotel. On the other hand I dont eat food from hotels.

Does she have a weak stomach? No you will not get sick by eating outside hotels but to be safe, she can avoid the hawkers.

Hong Kong is generally clean and safe. Avoid the street stuff (even if they have a store front) that seems to have sat there boiling in its own broth forever. Also, avoid raw fish (sashimi) and oysters at buffets. You probably get fresher ones at Australia anyway.

Unfortunatly she has never been out of Australia, so the whole experience is going to be new. I have been to most Asian countries and always on a budget and have never been sick. It looks like there are a lot of American style coffee shops as well as the dreaded Ms around.I havent been to HK for 10 years and I am sure it has changed a lot.

I think she will be pleasantly surprised how clean HK is. She%26#39;s probably been watching a lot of TV shows about mainland China and perhaps some other not-so-developed SE Asian countries.
