Out of Beijing Roas Trip

I am in Beijing in May.

I am looking at 3-4 days stay in Beijing maybe staying at courtyard accommodation.

After that time I would like to travel from Beijing into Hebei and Shanxi province and then back to Beijing.

I would like to travel a loop, visit-stay at Zhengding, Cangyan Shan, Pingyan and then back up towards Beijing- with visits to interesting old places like Chuandixia village along the way. I am open to suggestions.

I would start this road trip the 15th May and be back in Beijing by the 20 -21st May.

What would be the best way to do such a trip, eg hire a guide with car, hire the car only to public transport.

15/16 May, take by train from Beijing to Shijiazhuang, capital of Hebei Province (277km) lasting about 2 hours. and then take by public bus or taxi to Cangyan shan. Canyanshan is NOT better and just as shooting location on the movie Crouch Tiger and Hide Dragon.

17 May, back to Shijiazhuang and then take by public bus or taxi to Zhengding. The scenic spots in Zhengding just SO SO.

18 May, take by train from Shijiazhuang to Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province (231km) lasting about more 5 hours. and then take by bus from Taiyuan to Pingyao (108km) lasting about 2 hours.

19/20 May, sightseeing World Cultural Heritage:

Ancient City of Ping Yao. this is worth to see. and then at evening take by train K604 (19:25--06:39) from Pingyao to Beijing (677km) lasting about 11 hours 19 minutes. stay on the train

21 May, take by subway from Beijing to Mentougou District and then hire a car to Cuandixia Village. back to Beijing today.
