China Domestic Airfare - purchase now for July 2009

I have been informed it is best to purchase domestic airfare in China about 8 wks or less for best prices.

I am looking at Xian to Chengdu airfare.

On ctrip.com = Right now for July 3, 2009, purchase can be made for almost 50% off - regular full fare 630CNY can be purhased for 320CNY.

Is it possible that this fare could go even lower as closer to actual departure date?

Or should I purchase now? Any disadvantages?

You may find that when you go to book these flights thru ctrip the discount wont be there. Just go thru the process of booking and before you get to the page asking for your credit card details it will say if you can actually book these flights for that price or not.

If you can go for it but just be aware between now %26amp; then the flight schedual may change:)

Usually the best prices are less than one week prior to departure but this price sounds good. To figure out how low the prices can go, just check the flights for various days next week. That will give ou a base of comparison.

checked on flights next week, and the flights were actually more expensive with the time not as desirable for me. Hope the times don%26#39;t change too much by purchasing so far in advance.

The airlines that I was going select were:

Sichuan Airlines for Xian to Chengdu. July 3rd,Fri

Air China for Chengdu to Guilin. July 6th, Mon

Any problems with these airlines? Or the dates? (don%26#39;t think these are holidays??)

Any dates in July are summer holidays for students %26amp; schools %26amp; hence parents too. The prices will seldom go below 50% discount. In fact I%26#39;ve never seen cheap seats at the last minute so buy now while you can.

Nothing wrong with these airlines but it will be hot on those dates!!!!
