Ferry terminal Macau to Hong Kong

Hi,

I will be flying in to Macau in May and will take a ferry to HK for the 1st two nights and returning to Macau for another 2 nights before leaving.

I would like to know, which ferry terminal is more convenient to take, in terms of the crowds and the trouble of getting from the Airport to the ferry terminal?

As I have not book any hotel in HK yet, I will book the hotel based on the ferry terminal location in HK, which is either area near the Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan HK island or China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui area.

As I have only 2 nights in and 2 nights in Macau, I have to plan properly to save traveling time and money.

Please advise. Thanks.

Hi leongwk15,

from Macau airport:-

There is a ferry terminal, known as Taipa Ferry terminal,of which only Cotai Jet operates from;which is next to the airport.

If you can get a taxi driver agreeing to take you there, then you can take Cotai Jet.Not too pedestrian freindly, particularly with luggage to hot foot there.

Otherwise, take a taxi(or bus-API) from Macau airport to Macau ferry terminal(in Macau Peninsula),and take either Turbojet or New World First Ferry into HK.

Okay, Cotai Jet and Turbojet will arrive at HK Macau ferry terminal in Shun Tak Centre,Sheung Wan,HK island, whereas New World First Ferry will arrive at China Ferry Terminal on Canton Road in Tsim Sha Tsui.

In terms of human traffic, from my experience of having taken all three-I find lesser human traffic at China Ferry Terminal.

Oh by the way,on a separate matter,I forgot to mention that there is a Musuem of Tea Ware on HK island at Cotton Tree Drive(across the road of Cotton Tree Drive/Queensway) from of Bank of China Tower.

As you could be spending some time looking for your purple clay tea pot,and most probably wanting to visit this museum, then I suggest, select a hotel on HK island;you may want to consider this newly opened hotel, known as SOHotel on Bonham Strand(near Western market, and also close to Sheung Wan MTR station, and also HK Macau ferry terminal). As you will be visiting in May,you could avail yourself on their special offer for rooms from HKD700,and it also comes with free breakfast.

As mentioned in answers to previous queries, it is more convenient to go from the airport to the main ferry terminal on Macau peninsula, although a longer distance. Outward immigration from Macau is much more efficient than inward - even in peak traffic times 10 minutes should be enough time to get through immigration and to your gate lounge.

At the Hong Kong end, First Ferry%26#39;s landing point in Kowloon is usually not as crowded as Turbojet%26#39;s / Cotaijet%26#39;s Sheung Wan terminal, but Hong Kong is much quicker to call extra immigration officers to desks if the immigration hall is crowded - I think one of their goals is not to have anyone waiting for more than 15 minutes even in peak times, and they are pretty good about this.
