Advise Needed: When to book a Hotel?

Hi,

My wife and I are coming to Beijing from Sept 26th to Oct 2nd. When would be the best month to book my hotel? I understand that there is a holiday on Oct 1st, will that effect availability of hotel rooms if I decide to wait?

I%26#39;ve been looking on Agoda for hotel pricing, can someone recommend a better site with cheaper prices?

The Novotel Xin Qiao and Courtyard By Marriott Hotel near the railway station are both under $100 (Canadian Dollar) per night, is that a good price?

Any advise would be great!

Check www.kayak.com (an search engines that looks for the best prices) or www.wotif.com (online travel agent with excellent prices)

Note that the prices on wotif include the usual 15% surcharge not included in the prices posted by other web sites or the hotels. Too early now to book on wotif.

I have traveled often during the national holidays in China and hotel availability was never an issue. Actually many will have some special deals due to the lack of business travel and conferences.

There are soooo many hotels in Beijing, do not worry about it. I usually book one week prior.

I have been in Beijing during Golden week (October holiday) and hotels aren%26#39;t a problem. The main thing it effects is train travel to %26amp; from cities and the amount of people about.

For the olympics there were so many hotels build that there are far too many rooms at the moment.

It is better to wait a bit. The hotels tend to let you pay full price if you book early. But closer to your date there will be more discounts.

Last time I had my room for about half of the list price.

Booking in August is ok as the hotels in Beijing set their prices for Oct 1st holiday till then. If earlier, maybe the room rate is not available.
