Hebei is about half the size of Norway and surrounds most of Beijing municipality. Where do you want to go and what do you want to see? Generally speaking, it%26#39;s 3-4 hours by car to get over the %26#39;border%26#39; north, and 2-3 hours south and west. If you go anywhere by train or coach it%26#39;ll take up most of your daytrip. If it%26#39;s just a case of getting out of the city, there are places (including the Great Wall) that are within Beijing%26#39;s boundaries like the Silver Fox Cave, Tanzhe and Jietai temples in the South west, or Huanghuacheng lake and Silver Forest Pagodas to the north.
