Beaches in Haikou

Is there any nice beaches in Haikou? How do they compare to the beaches in Sanya?

Beaches in Haikou

The short answer is a resounding NO!! Look at the map and you%26#39;ll see that haikou faces the Mainland so the beaches are heavily polluted with plastic as well as silt. I swam at one beach about 5-10 Km out of town %26amp; I was the only person swimming. A large group watched me and then all threw their banana peel into the water so I had to wade through even more garbage to come ashore!!

I have to disagree with the previous poster, there are some nice beaches in Haikou but they are not on a par with Sanya YET.

The municipal government is spending millions on new wastewaster treatment plants such that within three years both Holiday Beach to the west of Haikou and Bai Sha Men beach to the north will offer some of the cleanest water around the island.

I%26#39;ve often swum at both these places and I%26#39;m still alive to write this.
