Hong Kong need not be very expensive to eat out. It all depends on where you go. You can have a pretty good meal for HKD150 which works out at about 拢15. It all depends on where you go

So far as drinking is concerned, try to do all your drinking during Happy Hour which typically runs up to about 9:00 pm. You can get stung pretty badly tho especially in some of bars around Lan Kwai Fong. I have heard of some places there charging HKD100 for a pint.

Obviously avoid the hostess bars in Wan Chai. You will get fleeced in those places

Restaurants sometimes sell off stuff cheaper after lunch and before dinner too. Take fliers from people in the street. Many are in English and have prices.

It can be expensive, but most of the best things in Hong Kong are free or very cheap.

For food, make sure you have your main (western style) meal at lunch - there are lunch specials including starter, main and drink for under HK$100 which is reasonable. For dinner eating Asian food will be cheaper than western. If you pick your restaurant costs should not be high.

For drinks, bars can be very expensive. Pick your bar wisely - look for happy hour prices.
